Pakistan has inaugurated the Sky47 Karakorum-01 Data Centre in Rawalpindi. Official information presents the facility as domestic infrastructure for large computing systems, cloud services and artificial-intelligence workloads.
Capacity of 8.5 megawatts
The data centre is reported to have a power capacity of 8.5 megawatts. It has been described as carrier-neutral and AI-ready, allowing telecommunications and technology organizations to use protected shared infrastructure.
Domestic data hosting
The project is also reported to include sovereign-cloud architecture and enterprise-grade security. Domestic hosting can reduce reliance on overseas servers for sensitive data and computing workloads.
Similar facilities are planned for Karachi and Lahore. Their practical value will depend on affordability, power continuity, connectivity, reliability and independently assessed security standards.
